Previews - (July 27, 2006 ) Patrick Brown’s laugh-a-line comedy “Assistant Thief” has its World Premier tonight at Centerstage Theatre in New Kingston at 8pm. Featuring the comedic acting talent of two of this country’s most renowned and talented actors in the persons of Oliver Samuels and Glen Campbell, “garnished” with the comedic writing of this country’s most prolific comedic writer of plays, and “seasoned” with the skillful directing of Trevor Nairne, “Assistant Thief” will have all comedy lovers salivating. The cast also includes the outstanding new acting sensation Camille Davis, who announced herself most forcefully over the last two years with creditable performances in “Woody’s Last Stand”, “Vibes” and “Class of ‘73”. In fact her portrayal of the ghetto fabulous “Dimples” in Vibes earned her an Actor Boy nomination for best actress. In “Assistant Thief” Davis more than holds her own in the richness of the acting talent on stage, and proves yet again that she has a bright future in the theatre if she continues on the said trajectory. Centerstage Workshop graduate Christopher Hutchinson also stands tall in the impressive talent on display , appearing as an overly nosy police officer. All four actors gel together wonderfully under the expert guidance of veteran director Nairne, and have as a team crafted a truly audience-friendly, laugh-a-line theatrical gem, which will provide more than adequate exercise for the “funny-bone”. Audience members who have become accustomed to visit Centerstage for a good laugh and in for another treat, as Assistant Thief delivers many a show stopping moments.
