THE LAST STAND AT CENTERSTAGE

Charlie Wood is a player who is about to discover that one of the women he has "played" along the way has hatched a plan to get even … well, let's just say she is a firm believer in "cutting off the right hand if it offends you". Only this time she is hell bent on cutting away more than Woody's hand, and seems to have read the "bobbet" story one time too many.

This is the scenario set up for us by award winning playwright Patrick Brown in his latest stage offering: "The Last Stand", which is bound to have the audience on the edge of their seats, especially the female clan, when the play has it's world premier at the Centerstage Theatre on Friday July 23, 2004 at 8pm.

Under the proven clinical directing of Trevor Nairne, the cast, led by Glen "Titus" Campbell as Charlie Wood, and Deon Silvera as Bubbles (one of the aggrieved women), has breathed exciting life into the characters created by award winning playwright Patrick Brown. Brown has given us another though provoking plot, a plot which explores some rather serious issues, primarily infidelity, promiscuity and loyalty. But despite the serious undertones, in typical Patrick Brown style, the play is hilariously spiced with comedy … a laugh-a-line scenario, with universal appeal.

Apart from the seasoned campaigners Campbell and Silvera, audiences will see the return of young Donisha Prendergast, who created quite a stir with her outstanding performance on debut as a tenacious teenager in "Puppy Love". She also delighted the Jamaican audience in the title role of the hugely popular musical comedy "Cindy-Relisha and the DJ Prince". In addition Jambiz has again set out to introduce some new faces to the Jamaican audience, including young Khadine Hylton, Sharee McDonald-Russell, Camille Davis and Christopher Hutchinson. The talent displayed by these young thespians will excite audiences to the max.

After its world premier on July 23, "The Last Stand" will have a limited run at Centerstage, playing Tuesdays to Sundays at 8pm, with an additional performance (5pm matinee) on Saturdays and Sundays.
